Concept Paper: Ezine for Mathematics and Religion
The Journal of Math and Religion is an electronic magazine dedicated to exploring and furthering the relationship between these two commonly disconnected subjects. While there are currently many available resources on science and religion, material which directly explores the math/theology connection is much less accessible. This project helps fill this gap. Initially edited by Sarah Voss, a pioneer scholar in the emerging field of “matheology,” the quarterly journal is for mathematicians, clerics, and lay persons who are interested in how math affects religion and spirituality, and vice versa. Each issue contains feature articles; profiles of matheologians; historical tidbits; relevant poetry, art work, book and movie reviews; news and upcoming events; an opinion column; a section on related links; and a chat room for interactive sharing. Lay-friendly submissions are invited and a modest honorarium occasionally offered. On-line subscriptions will be free for the first year of the journal’s life. The intent is to create a useful resource and networking avenue for what has hitherto been a sparse and often isolated interest group.
